Taming of the shrew

I think that this is not a fair comparison because Katherina is not being rude but is at ease with petruchio and she is also intelligent character to Petruchio who is an angry, unusual and out of control person who is trying to make situations complicated for himself and others.

Katherina is trying to protect herself and herself only and she is very sly by twisting the words of men who try to charm her. Her sister, Bianca, is trying to make her feel better and change her attitude but it was not working as Bianca is trying to find her true love and she can’t find it until Katherina finds here and that is Petruchio. One of the quotations was, ‘ Katherina: Of all thy suitors here I charge thee tell whom thou lov’st best. See thou dissemble not. Bianca: Believe me sister, of all men alive I never yet beheld that special face which I could fancy more than any other.’

She always thinks that she is right every time when she speaks and some people disagree with her. When she saw Petruchio at first sight, she had no interest in him and had no intention of marrying him whatsoever.

Petruchio is a very rude person and he does not respect Katherina and he is trying switch his personality for a bit of bread from Hortensio. He might be a little bit rich so whatever he does to anyone he wants them to show respect and do anything for him, he can’t do that to Katherina because she is more aggressive than him. Even though that Petruchio is getting paid and didn’t love her at first, he was beginning to love her every time they met.

One of the main arguments that both Katherina and Petruchio has had was and I quote, ‘Petruchio: who knows not where a wasp does sting? In his tail? Katherina: In his tongue Petruchio: Whose tongue? Katherina: Yours if you talk of tales and so farewell Petruchio: What with my tongue in your tail?

This is why that there is no comparison between Katherina and Petruchio

I agree with a lot of this (although, I don’t think we could go so far as to call Katharina “Calm”. I think she is rational though).

The next step for this piece of writing is for you to add specific quotations to support your ideas. I’d love to read your analysis of where Katharina twists the words of others.

You’re making progress! You’ve now added quotations. What is needed now, is for you to explain what those quotations mean – and how they are actually supporting your point (the quotes are good, and they are, but the marker needs to see how you got to that point)

Have a look at Remi’s blog to see how he analysed that quotation that you’ve also included where Katharina is called a wasp – this is a good sample to explain how it’s done well.

Let me know if you need some more detailed help.
